The 500 Festival Mini Marathon

Good morning! It is the morning of the Mini Marathon downtown, Indianapolis. Dustin always volunteers to do safety at the race, so he is currently there. I have gone with Dustin a few times and had a blast! I didn't go last year or this year because it is just too darn early that he has to be here--6am! This is Saturday, and after working a long hard week, I wanted to sleep in. Well sleeping in was only until 7! Jeeze.

Anyway, I wanted to mention that this is a race I've always wanted to do. The mini is 13.1 miles. I know I can't make that full race. I do know that I could make the 5k. I run more than that usually every or every other day. So I called mom this morning, wished her a happy 51st birthday, and then asked if she wanted the challenge with me next year. So next year mom and I will be doing the 5k. I am almost too excited and it is a full year away!

Later today I'm getting a much needed massage. Mom and dad want to meet and have lunch/dinner today after picking Eric's stuff up at Vincennes and they have to drive through here anyway. So that will be exciting.

On another note, the last day of school is June 6th and I'm super excited. The weather has done a toll on me. I want to be home and enjoy it! This is the type of weather I will actually stay outside in. I cannot stand those hot, humid days of July/August... but that's okay because I'll be back in school by July 21st. So we get almost 6 weeks off for the summer. Is there something in place where I can retire before the age of 24? Hm... :)

Dustin's just been very busy at work. He had the safety officers come in and take a look around to ensure the range is secure. This causes much stress and mayhem around the shop, but hopefully everything will be fine. Dustin will be going to the Ham fest in Dayton, Ohio in two weeks. This is basically a nerd-fest. This place allows all the geeks to get together in one place and feel status-quo. I secretly would like to go to it, though, I don't think paying $20 for a ticket is worth it for me.

Mona Vie party went well last weekend. We had about 17 people come by to check out the new health drink. It is so delicious and like I said had a wonderful time.

A Beth Moore simulcast will be appearing at my church this August. I'm super excited about that as she is a huge influence in my life. Even though I've never seen the woman in person she somehow can keep me on task and accountable for who I need to be in Christ. Love her! (Sometimes get upset with her too!!! haha but in a good way)

This month is also our 3rd year wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe that on the 14th Dustin and I will be married 3 years. We've been together 6, but married 3 of those... jeeze! Such a long time... haha. I couldn't imagine myself with anyone else. When we're out some place and see a couple that is on a date, we just start laughing because it is hard to contemplate the dating scene. Married life is so wonderful and fulfilling that dating just seems to have empty holes in it.

May is also the month our license plates are due and we both have expensive bills when it comes to that! My car is a 2007 Jetta and Dustin's is a 2003 Golf. Both Volkswagens provide so much pleasure when driving, but so much distress at the BMV with those prices!!!

Lastly, the INDY 500 IS COMING SOON!!!!!! This is such a fun time. Last year Nate, his wife Stefanie, Dustin, his mom, and I went to the race. Stefanie and I decided we needed to walk as we were getting bored/stiff. So I said, "Well, the track's only 2 1/2 miles, want to walk around it?" Stefanie said, "Sure, sounds like fun." Let me get this picture ready for you: Stefanie was 3 months pregnant, I was me, we had her cell phone, our tickets to get back in, and a little bit of cash. We started at the North Vista and went east. After walking for about, oh I don't know, 30 minutes we start to question where we are. We were enjoying ourselves but didn't pay much attention to anything. We got around to the front and were able to watch the cars pit (which I've never seen in real life) and decided we were hungry. We STILL weren't back to the seats and it is only supposed to be 2 1/2 miles. Well by the time we go to the golf course side, it started pouring down rain. I'm wearing a white shirt, she has on a pull over jacket. We stand there trying to call our husbands but with the car noise it was too loud. So I finally see a kid carrying a trash bag. I ask him if I can have it and I made a poncho out of it and we walked. By the time we got back to our seats about 1 hour + we were soaked and miserable! Dustin, Nate, and Linda all ask where we were. We said it took forever to walk around the 2 1/2 mile track. They start laughing hysterically and say, "The inside track is 2 1/2 miles. The whole outside of the track is more than 5 miles around." We were so embarrassed and exhausted, but had a good time.
