Nintendo Wii

The 4th of July weekend posed too many possibilities. First we were offered to go to the Anderson family campout/cook out. Second we were invited to go ride a yacht up and down the Ohio River. It was such a difficult decision, but we wanted to do both. Sadly, it didn't end up that way.

So Thursday we packed up, including 2 dogs, and drove to Columbus, Ohio to meet Uncle Butch at his hotel. We hung out that night and really didn't do anything. Friday we wake up to prepare to go to the Ohio and it is raining. We decide not to go and instead they bring up playing the Wii. Since these consoles are such prized commodities right now, we figured we'd not be able to buy one. I call all over Columbus, Ohio including the Game Stops and Wal Marts. Butch says, "What about Meijer?" So I choose a Meijer randomly out of the phone book. They had 4! We race over there and Butch buys one and so do we. We get back to the room and bowl all day/night. It was almost hard to leave for dinner.

Saturday the rest of the group--Scott, Marcia, Butch, and Taunya-- prepare to go to the river and we prepare to head back to Indiana. On our way home we stop and get a few other games and accessories, and play all night long. Let's just say I'm addicted to Guitar Hero III and doing quite well at it!

On another note, Wednesday of this week I'm going to go work in my classroom and had volunteered to help with registration.... yes I did say registration in July. I start back to work on July 18th and the students are back on July 21st. I'm not so sure I'm ready. I really like not having to work, but still brining in a nice pay check!

Friendship Trip, Saturday, June 14th

Dustin and I decided to make the trip to Friendship, Indiana again this year for the annual flea market and musket shoot. My first year at Friendship was the June that I graduated from high school, so it's been 5 years! Without thinking about how old I am, we met uncle Butch and Bubby there. We had car riders- Scott and Marsha Baker and had a total blast. Here are some pics of us eating dinner in Napoleon, Indiana at the restaurant Bonaparte's....get it? Ha ha

We are quite tired from all the day's festivities and walking in that gosh darn heat.

Here is Butch and Tonya.

Scott and Marsha.

My students

Dustin finally got our card reader fixed so now I can post some pictures on here! I am infamous for not using my camera as much as I should. Thusly, I took pictures of my classroom and students AFTER the year was over!! Here's what I've got so far:

This is the front of my classroom. Look how old my desk is... I can't even open one of the drawers. Thank goodness to a generous retiree donating a nice old wooden desk for me.

This is my 7th period class. They were 30 and I was 1. They were a great group of kids, just very talkative and the most challenging. I most likely will not have these students next year. Though I am looping, I will also be stuck with some 7th grade students as well as my 8th graders that passed.

Thoughts

I am: blessed with the love of a great husband.
I think: I want to be a mom.
I thank: God I have been blessed with a beautiful life.
I know: I've married a wonderful man.
I wish: I could afford a dream home (or close to).
I hate: when I can't figure something out on my own.
I miss: my wonderful and challenging teenagers!
I feel: like I am nesting.
I shop: but find myself being responsible and not buying everything I want.
I hear: but don't always listen as well as I should.
I wonder: what life will be like in a year from now or even further down the road.
I dream: of a house full of children and being the 7th Heaven-like parents.
I love: my husband, family, friends, and chocolate!
I care: about things I never thought I could.
I always: watch 7th Heaven before I fall asleep.
I celebrate: life... it is too short to not enjoy each and every day.
I sing: the whole greatest hits cds/dvd of Wynonna.
I cry: more now than I ever used to.
I don’t always: give people a fair chance.
I write: notes, essays, lesson plans, and blogs... almost all for my students.
I pray: for love, forgiveness, and to be serve God the best I can.
I lose: not enough weight.
I listen: to what I want to hear.
I am scared: I will be a failure in some way.
I dance: way too little.
I need: my husband's love and appreciation.
I surf: the internet less than I used to.
I dread: the day that one of us gets terminally ill.
I anticipate: creating a family of our own.
I laugh: at all the little things I do; for example, running into the pantry door, stubbing my toe, saying immigrantation instead of immigration.

Summer

So far this summer has been busy and not refreshing... until now.

I had a wedding this past weekend for my friend Molly, whom I met while attending Butler. She is an amazing girl and I was so proud to be in her bridal party. I don't have any pics of this yet either to post, but I will! She was such a beautiful bride. The bachelorette party was surprisingly fun. We went to Jillian's and realized that the A/C was broken, so decided to walk down to Cladaugh's Irish Pub and have some wine and such. While walking there the manager of Have a Nice Day Cafe told us to come on in for no cover charge and a free fish bowl. I've never been to a dance club, so it was definitely an experience for me!

Monday, Dustin and I went to see You Don't Mess with the Zohan the new Adam Sandler movie--HILARIOUS! A must see!

Tuesday I met Mary at Stonybrook and cleaned up my classroom some. I definitely need to do more work and get more organized. I think I'm going to go back in next week to finish up and start making lesson plans for the start of the year. I don't even miss my kids yet!

While I was working at school, Dustin's unit went to Columbus, Indiana to help with disaster relief. Here I am just ignorant of the flood damage and he said the water was up to his belly button. I said oh yeah that sucks their basements are ruined. He said, "No, this is on the first floor of the houses." It is such a shame and they don't live in a flood plain so they weren't able to get flood insurance...

Today I'm not sure what I'm doing, but it is a beautiful day. I would like to go take a run and maybe go swimming. Who knows though. Dustin's got the day off today so we may go and get something done.

Next week I plan on gutting the spare bedroom and painting the walls. I would then like to paint our bedroom. Then I could make some curtains for the rooms and be finished. I'm in a nesting phase in my life where I want to change everything around. If anyone has any idea on how to reupholster furniture, let me know. I'd like to do so with my living room furniture.
